Despite extensive research on rape and sexual violence, there exists an important gap in knowledge around older victims. This gap exists in relation to national statistics (the Crime Survey for England and Wales has an upper age limit of 59 for intimate violence), and by both criminologists and gerontologists. This research used an under-utilized method by criminologists—freedom of information requests to police forces.

1st partnership meeting held in Bucharest
The 1st partnership meeting was held in Bucharest, Romania, on 21st and 22nd of October 2015. The meeting was an opportunity for project partners to agree on the upcoming tasks foreseen by the work plan. Specific attention was dedicated to the first expected outcome, an E-Book on Elder Abuse which will set up the context for the development of the training programme.

The final outcome of our Combating Elder Abuse project is now available for download. The handbook targets trainers and include resources to organize an elder abuse awareness workshop for carers.
